Why is eNGENUITY selling the JLOOX business to ILOG?
eNGENUITY has made a business decision to focus on its core markets. These markets include simulation and embedded displays for the aerospace, defense and automotive industries.
Why has ILOG purchased the JLOOX business?
ILOG is committed to offering the finest possible set of visualization products. Our market leadership supports this mission. By acquiring JLOOX, ILOG immediately gains important technology and customers. For example, JLOOX has strong mapping technology that complements ILOGs portfolio.

What exactly is covered by this acquisition?
This transaction is called a "selected asset acquisition." This means that ILOG acquires only the assets and technology associated with the JLOOX product. The agreement covers:
- JLOOX personnel in R&D, consulting, sales and marketing
- JLOOX customer-base transfer
- First-level support operated by eNGENUITY
- The entire JLOOX product line, including source code and intellectual property

What will happen to both company's products? Does this mean that ILOG will discontinue the JLOOX product line? Will ILOG sell and support two product lines? What is the timetable for all of this?
JLOOX is now part of ILOG's product portfolio. It will be supported, maintained and selectively enhanced for the next three years. Personnel from both JViews and JLOOX teams are currently working together to build a new product plan. This plan will merge both offerings to create the best possible combined feature set. A JLOOX maintenance release is planned to be launched on October 15th, 2004 providing numerous bug fixes and enhancements.

I understand you will offer support for three years. What happens after that period? Will you be offering me source code? Will I be able to get longer-term maintenance?
Long-term issues are still being discussed. More details will be announced in the coming months. In the meantime, you can contact us at jloox@ilog.com .

You mention that future releases will merge the best of both products. Will this offering be fully compliant with both JLOOX and JViews?
Both the JLOOX R&D and marketing teams have joined ILOG. JViews and JLOOX are two distinct product offerings; code reengineering is required to migrate from JLOOX to JViews. Transition teams have been formed to plan for future products and timelines. These teams will identify migration issues. More details plans will be announced in the coming months.

Can you tell me more about future product plans?
Plans are now being finalized. It is too soon to disclose any detailed information. The present facts are:
- JLOOX is part of ILOGs product portfolio, and will continue for customers on maintenance for the next three years
- A JLOOX maintenance release correcting bugs is planned for October 15th, 2004
- JLOOX mapping technology will be the first transitioned asset

Can I get help converting my existing JLOOX applications to JViews? What kinds of support and resources are available?
JViews and JLOOX R&D teams are already working to identify the easiest technical migration paths from JLOOX to JViews. Guidelines will be delivered in the coming months. If you have short-term deadlines, we can provide you with consulting support. For more detailed information, please contact us at jloox@ilog.com .

What happens to the new product features that I asked for in the next JLOOX release?
